Animation Techniques

Drawn Animation
These are made by taking a drawn image and replacing it with another in a long sequance. The drawings are slightly diffrent each time it is replaced, these drawings are put together in a row and and are shown very quickly producing a very effective animation.

Good Point
It Looks Great!
Bad Point
It takes a very long time to film from start to finish and is expencive needing many animators to compleat the work!

Cut-out Animation
This is done using cut out shapes and figures witch get moved around or replaced with other cut-outs. Cut-outs can be laid on drawings witch can be used as backrounds, Flat objects can be used in your animations.

Good Point
It is very quick and easy to do!
Bad Point
It is difficult to have more than one or two cut-outs moving at the same time. cut-out animation appears to move in a very stiff and awkward way.

Model Animation Or Stop Motion Animation
This can be made by filming puppets or any form of 3D models, You could use materials such as plasticne, clay or wire or anything that can be bent and made into diffrent shapes. the models are put in position and filmed then are moved slightly and filmed again, the images are all put together and made move quickly to give the impression of your models moving.

Good Points
Models can be used over and over again and copies made of them to shoot diffrent scenes at the same time so that the filming takes less time!
Bad Points
This type of animation needs a lot of time and hard work!

Computer Generated Imagery (CGI)
3D images can be scaned into the computer using digital photography or made within the computer itself, you can use clay models to make people and sets and once scanned into the computer as wire frame models whick are gradually bulit up into a three dimensional image witch can eventually be made into a film.
Good Point
Computers are becoming Cheaper and easier to use than traditional animation.

AniBoom review

aniboom is a video sharing website, used for mainly uploading short animation films.
Once you sign up you can create your own portfolio of your animations and search other peoples movies.. there is a sections for top rated,most viewed and most recent videos. you can also search other peoples portfolios. they have a few compitions running were you can win things like the chance to work with fox on your animation.
this seems like a great website to share videos on animation with the world.

igoogle review

This is a good website to use because it is simple and easy to use.
You can create your own effective looking homepage in 30 seconds using the simple features such as Intrests, Themes and Choosing You Location. Once you have choose these all you have to do is click see your homepage. Then from there you can move you sections around to suit yourself. It also has the google search bar at the the top so all in all i think this is an easy and good website to use.

Today..
we got our brief for our second project...ANIMATION (exciting stuff)
this told us that we are using show racism the red card... witch is an anti racist charity as the theme of our animation.
we were told that we were going to have to plan,film and edit and animation to be broadcast in the T4 slot on channel 4 on sunday mornings.
we were to choose one of the following key themes

• Islamaphobia
• Welcoming new people to britain
• Asylum seeker/ Migrant mythbusting
• Dealing With Racism

choose to use dealing with racism as our theme :)!!

anyway.. back to the animation itself. on the brief it also told us our animation has to be about 20-30 seconds long. But we have also to make a 10 second teaser aswell

the advert is to include the show racism the red card slogan and have music that is appropriate to our audience.

we have not to use any copyrighted material in our animation (don't wanna be sued XD)

im really proud of how my first atempt at animation worked out
